Five crèches and one kindergarten

The kihz Foundation is running five crèches and one kindergarten with around 160 full-time places. We can therefore provide care for approx. 250 children.

kihz Hönggerberg crèche
The ETH's Hönggerberg campus houses the multi-floor crèche building, which is surrounded by a large, attractive garden. It has a large, covered sand pit, water, toys to play with and climb on, a hard-surface play area, lawns, shrubs, trees, hills and a vegetable garden.
The Hönggerberg crèche offers 48 places split into 4 groups.

kihz Bülachhof crèche
The second kihz crèche was opened in March 2004 in the heart of the "Bülachhof Halls of Residence". The Bülachhof crèche is also surrounded by a large area of greenery and has a large, covered sand pit, water and toys to play with and climb on. Irchel Park nearby also offers the opportunity for small trips out and activities.
Our crèche was designed as a self-contained, multi-floor building for 3 groups of children and offers 36 places.

kihz Schönberg crèche
The former Pitschi university crèche joined the kihz day nurseries in August 2006. It is located in kihz Day Nursery 1 "Coach House" with its beautiful garden directly on the university site, and provides a total of 19 places in one infant group and one mixed-age group.

kihz Tierspital crèche
On Septembers 15. 2008, opened the doors of the kihz Kindertagesstätte on the area of Tierspital at the Frohburgstrasse 211. 21 places in a agemixed group and a group of infants are offered.

kihz Wolfbach crèche
On 1st February 2006, the doors were opened in the new kihz day nursery on the courtyard floor of the Wolfbach Pedagogic College at Kantonschulstrasse 3. 20 places are provided in a mixed-age group and a baby-age group.

kihz Platten kindergarten
The daycare kindergarten kihz Platten opened in August 2006. It is located on Plattenstrasse 45 in the garden (outbuilding) of the English department. Children between 3 and 5 years of age will be cared for and supported in two groups with 24 places.

Taking the lead

University personnel first
As our Foundation was founded by the UNI and ETH Zürich colleges, the places are issued with priority being given to students, teachers and employees of both of these colleges. A limited number are also open to family members of the Zürich Pedagogic College. If members from the stated colleges express no interest in a free place that is available, we will be happy to issue this to other parents who live in the City of Zürich. The places are subsidised by the colleges and the City of Zürich.

Quality is standard at the kihz crèches.
We are licensed by the canton and subject to supervision by Zurich City Council. We continuously strive to review and improve our work and to develop provision that meets the users’ needs through innovative projects.
