Family-oriented and flexible
Individual childminders or childminder families look after one or more children in their own home and offer the children a very family-oriented environment.
Unlike other centres, a childminder can be more flexible in terms of how she looks after the individual needs of the child. Childminder families are frequently combined within associations via which the arrangement, monitoring and billing of childcare services are guaranteed. The associations also offer them initial and further training.
Costs
Parents are looking at a cost of CHF 10 per hour plus the cost of food.
The Zurich Association of Childminder Families has entered into a service contract with the city council whereby a limited number of childcare places is subsidised. The parental costs are means-tested.
