The charitable Hertie Foundation develops the "Family-friendly University Audit"
German universities are becoming family-friendly, with the universities in Trier, Ludwigshafen, Kiel and Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen making pioneering progress. Study breaks are avoided, enabling people to complete their courses more quickly.
The "Family-friendly University Audit" is a management instrument which has been developed by Beruf & Familie GmbH, an initiative set up by the charitable Hertie Foundation, together with the University of Trier. The aim is to create facilities at universities which allow women and men to devote their attention to their children or to relatives who require care and, at the same time, remain at work or continue their studies.
